IVAS Results

From Roger Deeringer, one of CalGAP’s 2008-09 IVAS volunteer coordinators:

First of all. Thank you all very much for making this past IVAS seminar
such a huge success. Our hounds where very much appreciated by the IVAS
staff and attending students. Many “Thank You’s” where voice at the end of
every session. Hopefully these Veterinarians will recommend a Greyhound to
their clients who are looking for a new family member.

The 10 sessions, starting last October and finishing with the Certification
on March 29th, were well attended as we averaged 22 dogs per session. There
where 54 different dogs participating. I awarded a point for each day the
dog worked. In the case of hounds adopted through SoCalGAL that where
sourced from Hemopet, SoCalGAL and Hemopet were awarded 1/2 point per
session. A total of 225 points were earned.

IVAS has provided a stipend totaling $1250, which is to be shared among the
rescue / adoption groups. That works out to $5.50 per point.

The checks are going out today to each of the groups. The amounts are
rounded to the nearest dollar.

The breakdown is as follows:

GPA – 2 dogs – 2 points – $11
Greyhound Connection – 1 dog – 4 points – $22
GALT – 1 dog – 5 points – $28
SoCalGAL – 42 dogs – 86 points – $478
Hemopet – 48 dogs – 128 points – $711

Hopefully these funds will be used to further the rescue and adoption
programs of each group.

Once again, a super thanks to all.
